The History

date-2010

The Cambria Art Gallery is located about 50 minutes north of Madison, Wisconsin. The gallery started as a workshop and living quarters where we base ourselves in the summer months. We purchased the building in 2005, and set up shop . We worked and lived on the first floor. It took 3 years to renovate the second floor where we now live. We worked hard to keep the integrity of the building's history in tact. Today when you enter the second floor you find a space which is historic and also fresh. It's 14' ceilings ,window bay in the kitchen and original Douglas fir floors speak for themselves. Many of the plumbing fixtures are from the 1930's, the upper kitchen cabinets are Victorian and the lower cabinets were built to coexist.
The gallery started taking shape in summer 2010 when we put up 3 partition walls an and painted the interior. We opened the 2nd week of August and continued restoration of the front facade. In the gallery we carry our work and the work of other local artists. This year we represented photographer Keith Dotson, painter and fiber artist Jaroslava Sabislova, potter Pat Reiher , potter Daniel Bennett and painter Dave Sewel, and cards by Leslie Zantow and Tanya McGee.
We're looking forward to this coming summer's art opening where we'll feature several new artists.
